Ruben, do you ever think you'll participate in a discussion here, other than in the threads you post?

Just wondering...because...you know...it just comes off as SPAM. And because of it, I for one, couldn't care less about your website, because I feel like it's being shoved down my throat. And it has been, for over a year, I think. And I haven't cared about it for over a year. And I know I'm not alone.

But you probably won't read this anyway.

It is strange, isn't it? The guy has a great ear, a hell of a discipline, tons of energy, holds a position of academic authority..... and on top of all that, he's an internet marketing wizard. Yet here, on the greatest of all jazz guitar forums, he chooses to at once, maintain a huge presence and simultaneously exist as an outsider. Fascinating. Gypsy to the core.

I watch his videos now and then, when I'm feeling adventurous. There's a weird green ambient light and it's on from the get go >>rapid fire, muscle busting finger blasting mayhem. So far my pocket hasn't been picked and I've had fun.

Yes, and only jazzguitar.be and All That Jazz are the only two forums left that haven't banned him outright.

However AAJ has relegated his posts to the 'get the word out' section. That's where they put all the self promotional threads.

I find it sad, I have actually started disliking flamenco because of this whole thing.

I (almost...) admire the tenacity... (...but not quite...).

It's a pity to hear that this puts you off flamenco. Although I also don't like the way Ruben posts the same links over and over. That isn't really so polite. Anyhow flamenco itself now covers such a diverse range of musical sounds and is rhythmically very precise. It takes a long time to understand flamenco. I'm not even sure it's possible to understand it without having had the Andalucian experience.

If he doesn't answer now, you cannot consider him to be active participating. He doesn't bother me because I hardly ever read his treads , but it is sad that he ruins the 'other guitar styles'-tread.
I cannot spend my time watching all of his lessons, but the ones I watched weren't very serious. Poor Paco De Lucia!!

I guess my thing is he's not really selling anything, right? And it is the "Other Styles" section...

Of course, the man is living counterpoint to the "ignore it and it'll go away" idea.

I did see commercials in two of the videos I watched. One was for Microsoft.I forget what company the other one was for. He is also selling guitars. Andalusian Guitars and I believe he insinuates that they are associated with Paco De Lucia.

I thought you may have chased him away when I saw a bunch of his stuff removed from here.

I know this is a bit ... nefarious ... but I think if we scrape some money together, we can pay a guy I know to kick Ruben's arse. The dude? None other than ... Esteban!

I know Esteban would play circles around Ruben, after all he claims he studied with Sergovia.
