Default Any David Rawlings Fans Out There?

Another thread just made me realize I've never seen his name mentioned here, not that I've been around that long.

He's just about my favorite guitar player, in any style. He plays with Gillian Welch, mostly.

Any other fans? Opinions?

I think he's fantastic. I'd rather listen to him than about 95% of the new jazz (or any other genre's) guitarists out there. Plus, he can sing.

surprised there wasn't more of a response....

Stackabones - you're right about the singing, and his vocal harmonies are often as interesting as his guitar playing.... Have you heard the Dave Rawlings Machine record? He's out front on vocals and features Gillian Welch and the guys from Old Crow Medicine Show.... lots of good tunes, a great cover of Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer".....he does it in medley with a tune by Conor Oberst.... here's a live clip.....

Yep, good stuff....

He and Gillian Welch are kicking off a U.S. tour (under her name) at the beginning of July, with a new lp due out 6/28..... eager anticipation doesn't even begin to describe it.....

I madly adore David Rawlings! Saw him and Gillian in a little club in Johnson City, TN around 1997 or so. I have their new cd on order. Same as 23skidoo, I am positively antsy.

Yep, it's a 1935 Epiphone Olympic - it's been his primary instrument since the beginning, as far as I know. Never seen him play anything else.

found this on youtube recently.... doesn't get much better than this....
