Default By practicing pick playing on nylon string guitar, become better on the electric.

The kid sounds pretty good for his age, but he should work more on his phrasing. Many blues players don't even use picks. I don't see how practicing with picks on a nylon string has any thing to do with the blues. He needs to bend strings and develop a good feel and sound on the instrument. I am teaching a 12 year old right now who is coming along really nicely as well as others. I would be happy to pm you a couple of exercises I do with him and all my other students.

Not a big fan of Al Di Meola-especially his electric playing!

I agree. The kid clearly has skills, and it's obvious he's been practicing hard and done his homework... but he's noodling around quite a bit in that video.
