Default clarinet?

I've been playing ragtime on my tenor banjo with Spanky (washboard) and Buckwheat (tuba) down at the soda shoppe, and we were thinking about how a clarinet would sound really keen. What do ya think? Darlene was playing cornet for a while, but you know, she's a girl, and it would be better for our act if she was a coochie dancer instead.

Assuming this is a semi-serious question...sure, why not? Clarinet is a great instrument for jazz. Just ask Benny Goodman.

But don't overdo it. Tell Darlene that she can play every third song...the other two, she dances.

Can Darlene double on flute?...

Guitar and clarinet (and flute too) doubling the same note in the melody really sounds good...have been in groups in the past that used this method to sound "different" than the next group...trumpet too...

But like fatjeff said...do not overdo it...

time on the instrument..pierre
