Interesting.

I just bought Mickey Baker Jazz 2 and there is an identical lesson about moving the dominant chord form as shown in the Exercise #1.

Check out pianist/arranger/composer Milt Buckner's approach (recordings- you tubes) to block chord soloing. It's hard to believe he didn't influence Wes as he did jazz pianists Evans, Shearing, Garland, and Peterson. There is some evidence that Wes worked with Milt in different settings early. I know this is OT but sometimes it's good to try to get into the head of a young player and his influences. We all know about the CC impact. I think Milt was big for Wes' other side as he was for the above mentioned. Milt was long forgotten when he switched to organ and moved to Europe. Milt was also a major influence on organists Melvin Rhyne and Jimmy Smith.
