| | Im confused - is this a poll for best jazz guitarists, or best bands with great jazz guitar players, or just jazz albums?
Eitherway, one of the greatest jazz fusion guitar players - Greg Howe. Any album by him will is good but id recommend his latest "sound proof".
Next man who certainly deserves recognition with the jazz guitar community is Tommy Emmanuel - too many albums to choose from, so many great pieces of music. |

hey a few more:
the first pat metheny group album (y'know, the one with phase dance) should be on here.
as far as joe pass albums go, i really like the stuff he did with ella...more subdued...joe was great, but sometimes he seemed bent on showing you everything he could do, especially on the solo records-- on the record with ella you could get an idea of his greatness without being beat over the head with it.
i also love all the records doug raney made with chet baker (the touch of your lips, someday my prince will come, and this is always) |

| | Top 100 Guitarists That is a tough question but here are a few of my favorites:
Les Paul- Lester & Chester, Les Paul Now, How High The Moon w/Mary Ford.
Django Reinhardt: Nuages (one of the most beautiful ballads I ever heard)
Charlie Byrd: Jazz Samba w/Stan Getz.
Howard Roberts: Is a dirty guitar player.
Kenny Burrell: All Blues (absolutely FANTASTIC).
Wes Montgomery: (anything by him as I consider him to be the Godfather of the new players such as George Benson,Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour to name a few).
Gabor Szabo:I love his recording of Breezin' he recorded it before George Benson.
George Barnes: His early work sounded a lot like Les Paul. I also like his work with Bucky Pizzerelli.
Johnny Smith:The Best Chord Melody Player Ever. |
