I look forward to meeting everyone in this group. Therman |
The phrasing is murder and it is very fast at the usual tempos people play this. All I have done to try to learn the head was to get a band in a box version of it and slow it right down to half speed and then do it bar by bar. I could then play along in tempo at 100bpm. It is cheating because I can hear the melody being played as I play it but I learned the phrasing. Then I speeded it up 5bpm at a time (took all day) until I got it to 160-170. 160 is comfortable; 170 is a bit fast. I can then lay out the melody track on BIAB and play without the crutch but the phrasing is a bit sloppier when I do that but, as you say, if it is fast enough, it is less noticeable :-).
