| | Just Jazz Guitar Magazine Does anyone subscribe to this publication? I realize it's been around for a while but have never seen any reviews, etc.
I saw Brent Mason on the cover of this month's issue, which piqued my curiousity.
I've contacted the company to ask this question but have yet to get an answer: do the lessons come in both standard and tab notation?
Do any of the members of this forum know?
Thanks to all that respond. |

| | I have been a subscriber since 2000 and always anxiously await the latest issue, delivered in Feb, May, Aug and Nov. Ed Benson, the editor, is a great guy and does a fine job with the magazine. He is truly a jazz guitar affectionado.
I think the magazine is well worth the $44 per year just for the lessons alone. The magazine contains a combination of lessons by top jazz guitarists, reviews on Cds, books, and performances, as well as songs, many of which can be heard on line at their web site. Just Jazz Guitar Online - Home
It is a high gloss, weighty magazine. My only problem with the magazine is that all my collected back issues become very, very, heavy to lug around. I often find myself referencing or re-reading back issues.

Still worth having, I only wish I had more time to work through the material.

| | A fine publication, although a little on the mainstream side. They did a nice feature on me a while back, but it was a bit of a fight to get it in since I don't fall into the swing/bop styles they tend to focus on. Still, lots of good info, lessons, extended interviews, reviews, etc. Highly recommended. |

| | I've subscribed since the 90's when it came out, and I think it's the best of its kind (is there even another jazz guitar magazine out there???). I've written a few articles for them (they don't pay for them, so this is definitely a non-paid endorsement!). And yes, although they tend to be more main-stream, they have featured surprisingly "modern" players here and there. Recent issues had a huge article on Pete Mazza, a Mike Moreno lesson, etc., so it's not all "Nuages."
Definitely worth the subscription, IMO.

| | I called around six (6) times over a 3 week period, left my name, number, and desire to subscribe, and no one returned my message.
Looks like they're happy with the current subscription base and have no need to add another person. |

| | It's basically a one-person operation (with a little help). I imagine this is Ed's busy period, trying to get out the current issue. I certainly hope there's no medical or other emergency on his end. But I would use the website and email instead or just send him a check and a request to subscribe by mail - since it's already November, you may have to start with the Feb. issue. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
