 What kind of scale does George Benson play in Mimosa? What scale is it? And what is the trick to play that sort of scale to sound nice like George Benson? I Love George Benson so much he is a bad cat.     |

| Lots of switching between Fm and Fmaj pentatonics, several arpeggios, especially over V chords. It seems mostly scale and chord tone based. I hear the typical 1/2 step high melodic minor over the V chord as well. George's "trick" to me is like all good jazz players...his feel, time and sense of swing. That's not my favorite playing of his on that particular album, but it's very "George" and that's not a bad thing. |
