How late am I getting to this? 3 years nearly.

Great, useful examples, I've got one query: in example 7, bar 2 you've got an Ab in the stave, but 13th fret on the A string in the tab, which would be a root Bb. I'm guessing typo ( should be 11th fret) in the tab as the lesson uses 3rds and 7ths.

I don't think you are late on this at all. I hadn't seen this lesson yet and your post brought it to my attention. Awesome lesson that explains a few mysteries of comping to me.

I agree, Pierre. Herb comped well. Tasty and swinging for the most part, but when he wanted to barrel things along, he could!
