Default Moonlight in Vermont

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the info. I now have been working on Tenderly. I am on the 1st two lines of the song and I love it. I still hope you can come up with the tab for Moonlight in Vermont. I have another request for you if you don't mind. How about "The Shadow of Your Smile"? That is another Great Standard that I love. I see alot of messages to you and from you. You seem to be a very popular guy on the Forum. Well you get my vote. Thanks a millon for everything.
Chuck

Hey Chuck,
I posted the chord melody for the Shadow of Your Smile under the chord melody section.

Let me know what you think.

Default Shadow of Your Smile

Hi Matt,
Thank You Very Much I wish I could do what you do. How do you do the music and tab together? It must be a gift. While playing The Shadow of Your Smile. Another song came into my head and it is driving me crazy because I don't know the name of it. The only way I can explain it is that it has a spanish or bossa nova flavor to it and the begining melody is similar to"The Shadow of Your Smile" .I can't write music but i'll try to explain the melody to you. The Chords are Em, Am6,B7,Em etc.The melody is played on the 5th, 4th and 3rd strings. The notes are B,E,F#,G,F#,E,B,C, D,C,B, B,Eb,F#,A,G,F#,G,E Then it repeats again. Then it goes E,Eb,E,F#,B,F# F#,E,F#,G,B,G G,F#,G,A,D,A D,Db,D,D(octave third string) C,B. I hope you can tell me what it is. It is a real pretty melody and I heard it before I just can't for the life of me think of the name of it.
Thanks Again I appreciate it.
Chuck

Default Name of the Mystery Song

Hi Matt,
I heard the song again today in my car. It was a Samba/Bossa Nova style version of Autumn Leaves. It was played on a smooth Jazz station down here in Cape Coral Florida. Whew I can sleep tonight. I didn't catch the artist. I did notice that you have it up on the forum already. I see some people mention on the forum that they seen your playing. Do you have any videos? I would love to hear your chord melody playing. You really seem to be a Wiz at it. Do you play any of the Standards that you transcribe on the forum?

Cool, glad you figured out the tune, I know how it is!

If you go to my myspace page, MySpace.com - Matthew Warnock - URBANA, Illinois - www.myspace.com/mattwarnockguitar, there are audio and videos on there of me playing standards and bossa tunes.

Antonio, I have a book of Kurt Rosenwinkel transcriptions, his album East Coast Love Affair, coming out by the fall on Mel Bay.

I will also be trying to get my Johnny Smith transcriptions published this fall as well.

I'll let you know when they're out in stores.

Newbie! Just arrived

Hi all,
I've just arrived in the forum, even if was following carefully the wonderful Jazz Guitar Lesson since long time.
I'm an "old" jazz lover and a nearly new jazz guitarist (since about 4 years), playing in a non professional sextet.
My guitars: Heritage 575 Custom and Ibanez AS120.

cheers

I am a new member to jazz guitar.....been playing guitar for over 50 years, mostly old bluegrass...gospel...and old country/western....I really love the "swing stuff"...which to me is similar to the jazz stuff I listen to ....Have always wanted to learn more jazz stuff...just really never took the time to play/practice it.....with retirement coming on soon....I plan on having lots more time to play jazz....I also play bass, mandolin, and dobro, which is my fav instrument of all time....started out with the dobro and thought is to be mainly a "bluegrass" instrument........lo and behold........even an old fart like me can hear and see lots of jazzy stuff from that slide instrument........If this forum has as many friendly and knowledgable folks as it seems from just a few visits..........I am in for a treat....and I cannot wait............hopefully, in a few months my jazz chords/tunes will improve so much that I can fully entertain myself with this "new...old music to myears.......thanks to all of the members...

Welcome Bud. I've often wondered why the dobro is so absent from jazz. And the pedal steel.

welcome Bud: I'm in my late 50's as well, like you I have come to jazz rather late in life.I'm having a blast trying to learn jazz guitar, classical guitar and just for the hell of it I like fooling with mandolin and the cello.I feel that at this stage in life it is time to have fun,I may never dazzle anyone with my chops, but some times my cat likes it.Good enough for me.Keep playing man.
