Soco,
I can certainly understand feeling you've had a belly-full.

Don't hesitate to come back when the time is right,
for the sake of we here who will miss you.

In the future I intend to be thrown out of fora,
not leave, but that's an issue of personal taste.

I am back for a while. I will stay out of the Flamenco section and the discussion with the classical-juvenlies!

Jostein, welcome back.
I'm so glad you decided to stick around.
Trolls and spammers are everywhere. Unfortunately!
I focus on the "good guys", such as yourself.

Cheers, Ron

Great playing! I just realized I've been listening to your playing for about a year not knowing it was you!

It's great to have you back!

Hey Man when did you leave... I'm just starting to get your signal... nice station. You can play... in the end... middle and beginning that's what is all about... not the BS. At some point we take on as part of being a musician the job of passing on and educating by example, your in a great direction for being able to do just that. It's cool... on the east coast it's dirt thing.... out here on the west... it's the grease... see ya Reg

Jostein is a great guy and I consider him a friend. His leaving this forum is the forum's loss and not the other way around.
I really dug that clip!

I particularly like jazz like this. Trio playing is always possibly my favorite format. I love horns, and sometimes there are great horn trio records too. But in the end I like my jazz very intimate and conversational, with much dynamics, and not too bombastic too often. Space well utilized. Three guys that play in a way like they know how to go to the same place/ambience. Playing that makes you think. Jazz that is actually good music and not just an opportunity to play changes or shred licks. This clip has those qualities. I look forward to checking out more.

Hi, thanks for the nice comments.
I haven't left this forum by the way, fortunately there has been an absence of flamenco-spammers and juvenile and edgy guitarists.
This is a great forum.

Good. Yeah there are some pot stirrers in here. Just ignore them. It's always good having real musicians that make a difference. Glad you did not leave!

Exarctly: Listen to the Ron Eschete Trio, 7-string guitarist, 8 - string bassist and a fine drummer! Thes guys are very tight and their music is really well-done with a lot of feeling and always a nice groove.

I left the forum for a while, about 18 months because the comments were getting way out of hand. I use to moderate the forum but it was just getting crazy with spammers, trolls and negative and often hurtful comments. But I've been back for a few months now, giving it a second try, and I have to say that things seemed to have calmed down quite a bit. If you can ignore the few negative people that get in your face then this is the best jazz guitar forum on the web!

There seemed to be a lot more negativity when I joined here a few months ago but it has calmed down. It's a shame that, for me at least, it can be kind of contagious - I find myself wanting to fly off the handle here and there too. I guess we all need to police ourselves if we want this to stay a positive place.

Good work, mr. B. Matt, stick around; you're quite an asset. I'm glad things are chill. There was a ton of BS over the winter. It really got to me as well.

Yep, at least the spam bots have ceased, or at least taken a break, I remember getting up and seeing hundreds of new emails from the forum because a bot had spam posted 100 times overnight, oi vey!

Still can't understand why people tell us when they decide to leave a site such as this. I'd just go. Or leave for a while and come back. Who cares.
Such drama. Ha!

Heh, it's called a "suicide post." When somebody like soco, a good contributor and level headed person makes one, folks take notice...at least I did.

A lot of times it's just immature drama.

I hope this place has gotten a little more welcoming since I started modding...I can't fix everything, and I do think wwe need to have thick skin and laugh some stuff off...jster's cartoon above (one of my favorities, I first saw it thanks to bigdaddy lovehandles, I think) really captures the absurdity of it all.

There's always gonna be rabble rousers out there. I think they're hilarious. Ignore them and they go back to mom's basement...I promise.

Agree. That cartoon says it all.
I've learned lots on this site, but there's always the odd a-hole that ruins it for whatever reason. But life is like that - whether in this forum or on the "outside" world.
Incidentally, I'd love to do a suicide post at the firm: "OK, all you undeserving, unimaginative, buffoons, I've sold everything and you're all fired!" Ha!
