Default Any tips about how to solo over this?

I'm supposed to solo in this song called "Samba Del Sol" in this jazz band i'm in.

This is the solo section:

Gm9 F2 Eb2 F2 Gm9 F2 Eb2 D7
[vi] [V] [IV] [V] [vi] [V] [IV] [V/vi]

Cm9 F9 Bbmaj7 Ebmaj7 Am7(b5) D7(b9)

Is the chord analysis correct?

So i could just play the corresponding modes of Bb+ that go with the chords?

I'm wondering how some of you more experienced players would go about improvising on something like this, I haven't done a jazz solo like this before, only blues style, one scale over a progression stuff.

Just play G blues.

you'll have more fun that way, and you'll probably sound better.

if you want to experiment a bit..still use G blues but play the notes in between the blues scale i.e. G G# A Bb DD# E but make sure you play a note from the underlying chord on the 1st beat of every bar and listen carefully so that your timing is good . Have fun cheers Paul

Your analysis is one way of looking at it, but I don't think it's the best/most logical way.

The first section is in G minor:

Gm - F - Eb - F

i - bvii- bvi - bvii

and D7 functions as V7

G natural minor, or Bb major would work fine over all of this. D7 calls for that F# though.

Your analysis of the second section is what I would do too, with Am7b5 - D7 functioning as a ii - V back to Gm.

Just play the changes: guide tone embellishment, arpeggios, passing tones...Don't really need many scales for that.

The second line of changes you got are the same as the first part of Autumn Leaves.
