Interesting Starting a simple Jazz phrase

Hi all

I see many threads on 'favorite' dominant altV lick including one here somewhere!

How about one asking for favorite ii licks? (ii V I) i.e. starting notes.

My current taste is trying to get the Maj7 note in on the m7 chord, a sort of 'Harmelodic!' minor hybrid thing!

Would love to know what other techniques people have!

Regards

Eddie

Yeah, I start minor 7 lines from an M7 a lot too, and major 7 lines from the b5. Probably too much, frankly, especially when starting the arp with those notes as the blast off - it's a pretty cliche sound for sure, but then again, you hear it over, and over again in everyone's solos, so I guess I'm in good company. It definitely sounds jazzy. But lately I've been trying to use cliche sounding phrases more sparingly.
