Pat Metheny Chromatic ii V Lick Lesson
Hey Everyone,
Just uploaded a new lick video lesson featuring one of Pat's licks from his solo on Solar.
Jazz Guitar Lick Video Lesson - Pat Metheny Chromatic ii V I
Check it out, cheers.

It's that F# against the Dm7 chord which is something I would avoid, but I understand that, if played quickly (and maybe without a piano?) you hear the strong logic of the lick and it will sound ok
-
It's the sound of the arpeggio that holds it together in my ears, and the F# creates tension that I like that then resolves on the next chord, a tension and release sound that works well, especially with a piano or other guitarist. Just how my ears hear it.

Do you think you can point at which version of Solar Metheny plays that lick?
If I think about the chord changes in Solar, the original lick should be over
Ebm7 Ab7 DbMaj7.
-
Hey, yeah it's his version from Question and Answer, i just transposed it down a key to C major since a lot of my readers are beginners and it's easier to get down that way.

Thanks Matt for that lick, and more importantly the concept behind it. Going to incorporate that one.
-
No problem, glad you dug it, have fun with it!

That was cool Matt..Thanks!
