Default joe pass finger style

hey whats good everyone!

I recently started playing finger style and and have looked around the internet for some exercises to improve this skill. The thing is that i can only find exersices that are finger style for chords/ arpeggios ( p i m a stuff). I was wondering if any of you out there play and improvise using finger style like Joe pass, also if you guys could share any other exercises or things you did and worked on that got you started . Any help from an experienced finger style player that has any tips or things to work on would be greatly appreciated!

It was a long time ago for me but I think the "Segovia Scales" are what taught me single note runs using various combinations of fingers. (ie. i-m i-m, i-a i-a, m-a m-a). The scales were annotated for right and left hand fingers. There may be better study materials available now.

Just remembered another one : Giuliani 120 Right Hand Studies. Fairly easy stuff but it works.

There were also a bunch of studies by Carcassi

Fred - just remembered another one that really helps right hand technique. If you can find the sheet music for Estudio #1 by Villa Lobos, do it. While it isn't specifically for single note runs, it really develops right hand finger independence. I haven't done it in 30 years but it's a good one.

Here's a decent youtube vid of it (there are vids of more advanced players playing it but the audio is horrible on most of them).

H. Villa-Lobos Etude No. 1 Performed by Grace Sheppard (age 12) - YouTube
