If so what do you think of it so far? What's it all about?

I haven't gotten a copy yet, but I have heard from several sources that it is as it is described, a warmup book. A friend of mine got it and the feedback that he gave me is that it is good for building dexterity, but it won't make you all the sudden play like Pat Metheney.

I got mine last week. As opposed as some guys here or on another forum mentioned, it also has TAB.

I've played through some of the exercises and really like them a lot. You have to figure out what you are playing, pretty much straightforward 8th notes. I think it's great stuff and very musical warmup exercises.

I'd like to hear more about this too. Is it really just warmup exercises to get your fingers stretching? Seems a little odd that it wouldn't be something tied to improvising in some way...

It is. He points out that he's improvised the entire book and states one of the goals is to help the reader do the same thing.

There - obviously - is very much Metheny in this book, i.e. you can hear his style through these warmups. I like them a lot, it is a very creative way to warm up, not just running scales up and down - I highly recommend it.

I just got it. It does have TAB, it does seem like it is going to help me approach his improvisational style. I just don't practice enough.

I got one on Tuesday at the concert in Germany. The best thing is his signature on the cover. Also I am glad to get one don't expect to much. I started to work on it. I write the fretboard position in it and also the related chords it helps me a lot. The fingering You can get from the TAB.

Regards

Michael

I have it, it's not really a book of etudes or organized warm up exercises as such, they're literally transcriptions of Pat's warm ups from his seminar tour of Italy.

There is some good stuff in there though, it just takes some digging.
