I think notes on G7 taken from substitute /Ab min7-Db7/.

Interesting. I would have expected the last 8th note in the G7 bar to be Db (or C#, if you prefer, since it's enclosing the D that is the downbeat of the Cm7 bar).

Only Pat can say definitively, but I'll suggest that he's just thinking Ab minor over the G7 (in accordance with his "I'm thinking minor over everything" approach), and not the Abm7 - Db7 ii-V.
