Cool stuff! For those Kurt fans who haven't heard this, here's a link to a Kurt seminar; he talks about his practice routine, approach to improv, and other topics. And, he recommends a book on jazz pentatonic (which I don't remember - it was an obscure reference).

Hey Kris - I'm confused by this chord progression - it seems random. Is there an overall harmony for the section that this is transcribed from and the listed chords are implied?

My take: it's just a technical exercise. The progression is minor chords going up by whole tones. They seem to stick around for 2, 4 or 6 beats based on throws of I Ching sticks

Exactly, so where does it come from? Did Kurt demonstrate this as an exercise or is it taken from a solo?

Guitar Pentatonics

Hello,
I transribed it from clinic.I found it on youtube about two years ago/I think/.
There is also another exercise nr1.I'll show it at forum this week.
Kurt played these exercises solo without rythm section.
This is his personal thinking and phrasing about pentatonics.
Jazzingly Yours
Kris
