Help On Modal Vamps

I recently bought Mick Goodrick's the Advancing Guitarist and he suggests that a good way to get oriented with specific positions/scales/modes is to improvise over a variety of vamps in that specific mode or tonal center. I understand the theory relating to modes pretty well, but I was wondering how one would go about creating their own modal vamps to practice improvising over?

We had this discussion here:

http://www.jazzguitar.be/forum/getti...guitarist.html

If you dig through that thread you'll find mp3's of the Goodrick modal vamps that I posted that you can jam over.
