I have a Sweet 16 with a couple of mods that put it over the top for me. First it's 1/2 inch thinner than a standard Sweet 16. Second I took the humbucker out and put in a Lindy Fralin P-92. The combination completely changed the response curve of the guitar, eliminated feedback (I just sat in with a jump blues group and used the Sweet 16 at a higher and slightly overdriven volume than one would ever use on a jazz gig.)
I have yet to hand the guitar to anyone who hasn't absolutely fallen in love with it.
