Stochelo is my favorite GJ player. Dunno if you believe in mojo, I don't but if I did, this guitar would have it.

Selmer was, fairly recently, working on reproductions of their original guitars. Near exact reproductions. I believe there were a couple made....and Stochelo has one.

From what I've seen and heard, they were phenomenal, but for some reason they didn't continue with the project.

I think these were built by... if I remember correctly luthier Jean Barault. He took the initiative, built one guitar (for Bireli) and showed it to Selmer. They liked it and started considering a commemorative series of 10 "Selmer by Selmer" (by Jean Barault) guitars. Jean built a second guitar... and then Selmer cancelled the project.

According to Jean Barault, having a Selmer guitar that was not built in the Selmer workshops was considered not to be an option.

Jean Barault was building his own Selmer copies before this episode, and still builds them (for Bireli Lagrene, Tchavolo Schmidt...).

Barault makes phenomenal instruments....one of the few makers of GJ guitars utilizing a true pliage in the top. I know Dupont and Park guitars don't offer that option unless you purchase their priciest instruments.
