Default nylon for recording direct.

im working out some jazz standards in a downtempo or chill style format. using electronic instruments.

i am looking for a nylon string to record direct either through a millenia td-1 or my hamptone tube pre's. so it will blend good with drum machines and keys that are also direct.

im sure taylors will get a mention there is the godin. i think parker made a nylon fly. i would like midi but its not a must. just what has the best direct nylon sound. i know some will say mic it. but really i want a clean sound direct to manipulate the tone as i please. thanks

I'd go with a Godin if your budget will go that far - but if it won't, you should seriously consider investigating the Yamaha range.

Yep-had an hour on the Yamaha Silent Nylon guitar on Friday. I almost bought it, but at €550 I think I'd get a better, taditional nylon string and mic it. Quite a good sound, and a nice reverb as a bonus. I wouldn't use the reverb for recording, If I were you-I'd try to keep the reverbs on all the things to the same type if you are looking to get a natural feel on the piece. It can be difficult when using different reverbs built in to keyboards, dum machines, samples etc to get itsounding like it was all recorded in one place.

I would recommend a Godin with the midi ready pickup. I have had several nylon electrics over the years, currently a Gibson Chet Atkins CE, an inexpensive Korean laminated top with a pickup and a Godin ACS. As much as I like the neck on the Chet, the Godin is my go to for all amped nylon playing these days. I haven't played these, but a lot of people like the Aria Sinsonido, as well as the Yamaha and Soloette silent nylon string guitars.
Good luck
Brad
