| | Any opinions on the SR JAM 150 Amplifier from Godin? Has anybody put the SR JAM 150 to the test with a Hollowbody guitar? SR Amps North America - About SR
These amps are being boasted by GODIN as their "Go-To" amplifier of choice for all their Acoustic and Hollowbody models. The JAM 150 is promoted as a Premium Acoustic Guitar Amp. I'm sure it sounds fantastic with an Acoustic plugged in - but how does it fair with Hollowbody or Semi-Hollobody guitars? For me, nothing quite compares to a cool All-Tube boutique Combo amp, however, this amp has definitely spiked my curiosity. Any thoughts? |

| | Just glancing at the page, there's not a lot on info about the amp, but a 8" + tweeter sounds likes it's aimed at being an acoustic amp. For a more colored sound, I would want a bigger speaker. And it's not a tube amp -- different beasts. |

| | My thoughts exactly. I'm surprised they promote it with their range of Electric Hollowbody guitars such as the 'Montreal' series.
Guess I'm gonna have to source one out and put it through the ringer. |

| | The SR Jam (150 or 90) has a low input impedance around 47 kOhm, so it is not suitable for unbuffered electric guitars. Adding a good buffer it should be a great amp. |

| | This was the "house" amp at the Montreal Guitar Show. Gave all of the archtops a great sound. Was hoping to pick up one of the samples, but they weren't for sale. Raising cash while waiting for a discounter to step forward. Fabulous sound! |

| | I sold my Marshall and bought the SR TECHNOLOGY JAM 150 PLUS!
Great amp. I use a buffer to save the tone characteristics with the Gibson ES 175 and my brand new Epiphone Dot (oh yes). |

| | tone controls are probably in the mixer/pa range like the acoustic image, henriksen, etc., which means you'd likely need an external pedal like the barber barb eq which I use with my AI and Henriksen |

| | I tried it for a while and did'nt like it.
Sounded dry and flat, the numerous eq settings did'nt help.
Seems more suitable to electro acoustic sound than jazz tone.
I guess others will have different findings. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
