Has someone ever tried the "Kendrick Specialty jazz amp"?

"It is common knowledge that one can get a better sound with a three thousand dollar amp and an eight hundred dollar guitar than using a three thousand dollar guitar with an eight hundred dollar amp. Put you music dollars where it makes the most difference. The sound you hear is coming from the amp. Fast-food amp = greasy tone. Gourmet amp = mouth watering tone." Gerald Weber, Kendrick Amplifiers

If this is "common knowledge" then I am destined to die an obese man at the Old Country Buffet of music, because it's all I can afford and the cheap stuff tastes good to me.

Sorry-I've not used it. But, I'd say to you that $300 guitar and $300 amp- with a healthy amount of that thing called skill? Priceless. Looks good on paper, but buying something on specs is not recommended.

You can get a Henriksen or a JazzKat for under $1k.
You can get an Evans for under $1.5k.
You can even get a Rivera Jazz Suprema (all tubes + a 15" speaker) for under $2k.
Over $3k is way too expensive!

I wonder what old Gerald's copywriters would write if Gerald made guitars instead of amps.

I've heard this old saw (i.e. a great amp and a crappy guitar is preferable to a crappy amp and a great guitar) way too many times. All I can imagine is some tyro picking the same damned note over and over and over and, with a slightly deranged grin on his face, thinking: "Man, listen to that *tone*!"
