Default Zendrive

Got a Zendrive with the intent to have low dirt pushed through. I wanted a creamy sounding, warm, edgy sound.Wow, the sound is so full and expansive, I love it. With some light gain, I can even do chord melody and have it sound good. I never liked OD, particulary for jazz, but this just complements so well.

I have six pedals as I work toward my perfect jazz board. New TC tuner, Analogman Chorus with Depth Switch, Xotic RC Boost, Zendrive, Maxon AD-999, Hermida Reverb, and currentl the Boss RC-20XL (Although I am considering a JamMan as a replacement.)

I am loving my sound right now. The zendrive works in perfect harmony with each of the other pedals and make my Headstrong Lil'K sing so musically.

I am closing in on my perfect jazz board. What a fun and pleasurable journey. I started this process last march. It's been educational and fun.

Time to make some recordings.

There are a group of pedals, the Zen, Jetter Gain Stage Red, and Gaspedals Dumbell, who all do the Dumble type distortion really well. Robben Ford and Larry Carlton are the two typical examples of D players. You can add John Mayer, and David Lindley to that list also.

Of the above, the Zen is probably more adjustable/versatile. The Dumbell is cheaper, but is made in small batches. I find them used on TGP from time to time. The Zen is a really good choice if you are going after that sort of tone.

I have a Zendrive clone that I really love. Though I haven't been using it for my jazz stuff. I use it in a rock band I play with. I can see where it can be used. With the gain low and the voice around 1:00ish, it gets a nice, sharp gritty tone.
