| | solo gig with Phil Jones Cub Hey-- I've had the Cub (AG-100) for several months, but hadn't played out with it. Tonight I played one of my boutique gigs (private parties for repeat client) and used the Cub with a Behringer mixer so I could run more than 1 channel for guitar and vocal mic. It sounded great. No effects, but the sound is so open and airy, you don't really need them. I set the EQ flat, and just rolled off some mids on the Behringer mixer. Loud enough for the party and no feedback. If it weren't for mic and guitar stands, I could make one trip from the car. Guitar in gigbag, canvas tote with cords and mixer, and Cub in a shoulder bag-- I could get on a subway and get to a gig, if San Antonio had subways and I had a gig.

Makes me want to try one out. Glad you are satisfied with it. |

| | I've used mine for a few solo classical wedding gigs. It's so perfect for that kind of stuff. Since I don't sing and therefore don't need mic stands, I can get in and out in one trip, albeit a rather cluttered single trip. Do you have a small stand or something to get it off the ground? That helps the tone and projection a lot. I bring a small footstool (not a classical footstool, a real one that you'd stand on) and it works great. |

| | I haven't gigged with mine but have been really enjoying it's open airy natural sound as well.I used it on the floor at first and it was ok but have been using it on a stand close to my left ear while sitting and it's phenomenal. Great little amp.

| | I set the amp on a stone wall about 18" high. I had a stool, but left it in the car. Someone said in a post about a Cub with a speaker stand socket. Mine is without, but I had one installed in another amp, a Centaur Acoustic PA+. You can get the sockets online for about ten bucks. I also took the top handle off my Cub for last night's gig. The feet on the bottom of the Behringer mixer aren't tall enough to clear the handle, so I unscrewed it. I'll put it back on and superglue some 1/2" spacer material on the bottom of the mixer so it'll ride over the handle. BTW, I played my workhorse Aria cheapo nylon string cutaway with an Artec UST. Amp was set flat, with volume control at about 11 o'clock. I cut the mids a bit on the mixer, and turned the bass and treble just past the 12 o'clock detents for both guitar and vocal mic. Very natural sound. |

| | I just played two times with a drummer with the Phil Jones. the first date worked out much better in terms of sound, as my Gibson Howard Roberts had a very nice sound coming out of the Cub.
2nd time was the Tele-it was ok, both tone and playing, but not as good as the Gibson HR. |

| | I've been laying mine on it's side on the stool as I have an old lexicon reverb unit that is wider than the amp and rocks on the handle. Through the effects loop the reverb is just dandy.

| | Another happy CUB owner here. As mentioned, if you have the latest version, there's a slot in the bottom for a stand. And they've finally got the stand for sale! By the way, I see from the web site that the amp is now also available in red (mine is red) and now blue: | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
