Default Guild 1955 X-550B On Ebay

Another vintage Guild on Ebay - and this one is jazzalicious! Made by the original Guild craftsmen. Solid top with Franz P-90 soapbar pickups.

There's no reserve (the original BIN price was a bit steep @ $7.5K):

Vintage 1955 Guild Stuart X-550 B - eBay (item 160399890147 end time Feb-06-10 13:10:54 PST)

PS Check out Mickey Baker's book on the music stand.

That's crazy beautiful but I'm sure the price will escalate.

Had I not sworn a mighty oath to keep my acquisitivfe instinct under control, I'd be all over it.

In corresponding with Hans Moust in LetsTalkGuild.com (he authored "The Guild Guitar Book") He mentions that it would be very doubtfull this guitar is constructed from a carved top, but rather it is laminated. Not that this deters the desirability of ths guitar, but, it does bring to light that many sellers will make claims that, sometimes, are not well supported. Also, the tailpiece is a newer design too. Caveat Emptor! Still, it is a very desirable guitar.

Seller has revised his description to laminated top. Also, his original description included;
"the tail piece may be a replacement from the early 60's but it seems vintage and correct to this model"
So, I think he is doing his best to represent the instrument accurately. I do think his B-I-N is high, but let's see what it goes for.

Yes he has. I give the seller high marks for that!

I had an old single pickup Guild x-50 from 1958 that I traded straight across for a used Gibson ES-135. They both go for about $1,000.00, so I think I made a great deal. I wouldn't have traded it for any other brand but Gibson.
