Guitar Ibanez AG95

Went to Sam Ash today to pick up a starter guitar for my son. (Ended up getting a Squire Affinity pack with a 15 watt amp. The guitar is actually pretty nice, no rough frets etc.) Anyway I started playing with an AG 95, fell in love, and the next thing I knew, my wife is asking me if I want it!!! What a great woman! The salesman knocked off $50.00 so I got it for $495.00. Not a bad price either. I picked up a little Roland 15 watt cube to play it through. So now I'm ready to go!! It is a beautiful looking guitar, and one I feel I can stay with for some time. It has some mild buzzing in the upper register on the G and D strings, but hopefully a set up and some flats will take care of that. I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

Edit: couldn't get my camera to cooperate, so here is a link http://www.ibanez.com/HollowBodyGuitars/model-AG95 .

Nice guitar! I've not looked closely at that model before, but I love the bubinga and the dark finish. Looks like a lot of guitar for your money to me, and congratulations on your purchase - hope you're having fun playing it and let us know how the flats work out please!

Hi Meggy.. I just took it in today to have it set up. It should be a few days before I get it back. I ended up having them put Thomastik 13s on it. I wanted 12's but we'll see how it goes. I"ll let you know how it sounds.

I tried one of those at my local music store and was very pleasantly surprised how good that guitar sounded. I highly recommend it. Good luck with it.

Actually, I'm even more interested now I know you're having the Thomastik 13s on it. This is because I have myself been using a 12 to 52 flatwound set but with the plain strings changed to a 13 and 17 (instead of a 12 and 16). I think you may well find you like the extra beef that you get with a 13 set on the high strings.

I have students who have AF95 and AG95..

Both are well worth the money...

I have a 1977 2355 (the post copyright infringement year) of the Gibson ES-175...with TI .014" flatwounds...through a Polytone Minibrute..

It's not the instrument but the musician behind it...

Time on the instrument is the most important factor in growing musically...pierre

It's funny how simple things like trying a new type of guitar string can get the old enthusiasm levels going, but I do know what you mean! Although I'm sure that lovely new guitar must have something to do with it too! Anyway, why not sign up to the Bruno site thing? I haven't tried it myself, but it gets a lot of positive comment by those who are joined up. Go on, treat yourself...
