Here's a link to the latest version of the Boomerang looper. It ca handle up to four loops. It seems pretty advanced compared to the original version which I've had for many years(only one loop)

I messed with a boomerang once that a buddy had. I liked it, but it was noisy. I wound up buying the Digitech Jamman.

I was thinking about the Boss RC-2 looper pedal, but I've read that the sound was better from the Jamman, as well. Has anyone A/B/C'ed these three popular loopers?

Derek
I've had mine for about ten years and never had noise issues.

The RC-50 does three loops but the way you record the loops seems cumbersome.

I ordered by Boomerang III today. Will post once I try it out.

cheers!

Anand.

I think if you want lots of loops you can't beat the Jamman w/ 99. Upgrade the memory and you can have over 6 hrs. of loops. That's a lot of loops! Granted, the Jamman doesn't do the backwards thing which I believe the Boomerang does and the Line 6 DL4 does also.

PJ

I hardly ever use the 'backwards' function.
What i was looking for was a simple device that will let me record four loops 'on the fly' and then select them at random. On the other loopers that I checked into I didn't find any with random access.
I'm sure the new Boomerang has it's own shortcomings.
I'll be sure to post what I like and don't like once I've worked with it.

Anand.

I am not exactly sure what you mean by select them at random?

I think the ideal looper (in a live setting) should enable us to record about four loops such as intro, chorus, verse bridge etc.We should be able to do this without a lot of tap dancing with the foot pedal or take the hands off the guitar to fiddle with knobs etc.
Once you have loop 1 (say, intro) recorded, you hit button 2 and recording stops on the first loop and starts on the second.Same with three and four.Four loops should cover a basic progression. On most of the current loopers, you have to stop recording the first loop and then hit the second button for recording the next loop.
Once you have your progression you should be able to access any loop you want (Not necessarily in the order in which you taped it). Most of the live looping you see on the tube is stacking or layering and the backing is kind of 'monotone' after a few measures.
Now,if you can 'stack' onto each loop independently (eg-a walking base line) you have made yourself the perfect backing track to improvise over, live)
Not sure if I made any sense but there you have it !

p.s: Still trying to figure out the 'Rang III'. May have to wait for their software upgrade in Feb. to see if does what it promises.
