| | Just saw this "vintage" Polytone bass amp on Ebay:
I've never seen a Polytone before with controls on the front panel. Model #100. |

| | Fascinating thread. I own a '95 MB IV (15") that I bought new from a music store in Nashville. Cost $600 at the time. Can't imagine selling it. I'm a little shocked at the low prices some of these are going for. Mine still looks new; I have the vinyl cover and it never leaves the house without it. |

| | I sent BigDaddyLoveHandles a PM e-mail about this, but I thought I'd make a post as well
I am a clueless new owner of an Unknown Polytone MiniBrute Amplifier head and two Speaker Cabinets
It's a 90 Watt 3-channel Amp Head. And that's about All I know. I haven't been able to find any Polytones MiniBrutes, that were Heads with seperate Cabinets online. Do you guys have any idea of when these could have been made, or what their possible value could be. I only tested out one channel, and on speaker Cab so far with a Strat. And it worked fine.
Thanks Guys and Gals. |

| | I saw something similar or exactly like that on eBay, billed as a PA system. Sorry, I can't remember the listed price or if it sold. I would guess '80s for the vintage.
As a PA system, the EQ may be flatter than a guitar amp (which would tend to emphasize mid-range frequencies). |

| | Polytone really should hire a better webmaster, their website looks so 1995 -_-
It doesn't seem up to date either ... |

| | Sniff! At the moment there are *zero* actual Polytone Minibrute (combos) for sale on eBay. There are usually about six at time on the go! |

| | Hey BDLH - Thanks for running this thread! Very educational.
As soon as I recuperate from April 15, I'll be looking for a Mini Brute II. (Probably. Some flexibility on the specific model.)
I'm going for the very classic 50s/60s ES-175 thru a Polytone warm round sound. Herb Ellis, Howard Roberts, early Joe Pass, etc. (Though actually I've got a Heritage H575, but anyway...)
Could you kindly clue me in: what's the story with the red knobs on the MBIIs? Are they really dreaded, and why?
All thoughts appreciated. Thx!
