anyway, the new 2 pickup cutaway model is probably why i got such a good deal on this one...so i'll go with it!
I think they will come out with cutaways models. Godin does things in strange ways however. They might put 3 pickups on an archtop, a la Gibson Switchmaster.

Interesting niche(s) Godin creates. Very original company.

Let us know what you decide to sell.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna ditch the emperor regent, but i think it's going to one one my students...if he decides no, i'll let folks here know...

there's nothing wrong with the regent, really, they're a fine cheap archtop, but it sounds kinda "meh" plugged in. after seeing what one of our members here went thru to try to put a pickup with a little more life in there, i thought to myself, "or, i could nab one of those kingpins i've been eyein' for years..."

(ignoring the above)

Mr. B, do let us know what you think when you get a chance to play your Kingpin. I briefly played the newer, cutaway 2xP-90 model in a shop recently. It looked great (with the red finish) and I really wanted to love it, but acoustically it seemed pretty 'dead'. I didn't get a chance to plug it in, though, and the amped sound could make all the difference.

This is an old thread, Cmaj9--I did ditch the reege and buy a Kingpin.

Plenty of ES-125 vibe for me--I really like the guitar. It's not an acoustic instrument, IMHO--I haven't played a all acoustic Fifth Ave, but I would imagine even with bronze strings and a higher action, it's not going to be anybody's go-to big band rhythm machine...

It does, however, deliver enough acoustic volume in a small package that makes it a nice "couch practice" guitar.

Kingpin is definitely NOT an acoustic instrument. I have the stock 5th Avenue and it's night and day. Took a little work to get it sounding real nice, but now it's one of my favorites.
With pickups and electronics bolted on, the Kingpin is no more an acoustic than an ES-175.

Can I get you to clarify this statement, please? I posted this question in another Godin thread. Are you saying that the straight acoustic model 5th Ave is a much better acoustic instrument?

I played both in a music store recently and that was my impression, but I was wondering if it was the strings or the guitar that made the difference.
