I've been using flatwounds on it but to add some variety to my guitar setup I would like to try bronze strings on my Godin 5th Ave. and would appreciate recommendations.

I saw other threads but I'm not sure they apply to my case. I generally avoid bronze because of the following:
    - feel in fingers
    - screeching
    - excessive brightness

The best I've found so far are D'Addario's flattops but I wonder if there are other alternatives out there that you would recommend. I'm mainly going for projection/volume.

    Thanks!

    John Pease 80/20's.

Give em a good 5-6 hours of play, very bright at first but mellow out nicely.

Thanks for the recommendation, is it these? Haven't used them before.

    Definitely the cheaper ones

But joking aside, JP strings are that rare combo of cheap and good. It's nice that concept still exists in some aspects of life...

    I second Jeff's comment, JP 80/20.

Got the strings, put them on and I really like the feel. So much better than what I'm used to with bronze.

I'll report on tone when they start dulling out.

Just wanted to circle back to say it's been a while and I'm loving them. They should sell these pre-played like they sell pre-washed jeans

    Thanks again.

I usually use these ones for recording, didn't try the JP yet. But I haven't tried them on the 5th avenue.
The string noise reduction is quite good, some loss of brilliance, but that's the point after all
