Default 1959 Gibson ES 355 for sale: cherry, mono, no varitone, Bigsby and Stop TP

1959 Gibson ES 355TD, Cherry finish, serial # A29xxx. Factory Mono, Factory Non-Varitone, Factory Bigsby plus a 1959 Stop Tailpiece and Studs, you can change back and forth at will (6 screws, 5 mins.). The pickups are early patent number pickups, the guitar is in very good condition, structurely very sound with expected finish checking. This guitar looks beautiful, plays beautiful(y) and sounds beautiful. Warm and woody tone from the neck pickup, clear and present treble pickup, beautiful chimey tone with both pickups on. I gig with it weekly, but it should be re-fretted soon. I have owned this guitar for over 32 years, comes with the original 50s brown/pink Lifton case in good condition. PLEASE NOTE: I am not considering any trades at this time, thanks. $12,500.00.

Beautiful guitar. Interesting about the pickups. Should be PAFs, right?

Very nice. Looks best without the Bigsby (personal opinion). Good luck with the sale.

I'm surprised that this ad is still up on the site, I sold that guitar 2 years ago
(excuse me while I wipe away a tear).

To address the questions raised:

Q. "Youe ES-355 has both Bigsby and stop tail piece as a factroy?"
A. It was a factory Bigsby, the stop tailpiece was added before I purchased it in "77. The Stop TP was from a 1959 Gibson, I should have made that clearer.

Q. "Beautiful guitar. Interesting about the pickups. Should be PAFs, right?"
A. You are correct, sir...It should be PAFs, the pickups were also changed prior to my ownership. I never looked at the pickups (in 32 years), I assumed that they were PAFs and thought that they sounded killer (and so did everyone who played it).

"Very nice. Looks best without the Bigsby (personal opinion)."
I agree...

Thanks, Y'all...

Hey, b5, I didn't realize that the original post was from 2009. But, congratulations! It's none of my business, but did you get anywhere near the asking price for it? (I'm pretty sure I will never own a $12k guitar.)

Q. "It's none of my business, but did you get anywhere near the asking price for it? "

A. Not quite the asking price, but right about what the current market (in '09) suggested it should bring. It's funny, the '59 355, because it had no varitone and was mono, was essentially a 335 with an ebony neck (and block inlays). A '59 335, at that time, would've brought between $40,000-60,000. Go figure...

"(I'm pretty sure I will never own a $12k guitar.)".

Me either! I paid $750.00 for it in 1977. All my friends thought that I was nuts for spending that kind of money on a guitar.
