| | Archie: yes. Starchie: no. I had hijacked another thread with a few posts but now I think this deserves its own thread: Archtop Jazz guitars tend to be a conservative form, but here is a thread to post your favourite exceptions.
The following guitar first got me thinking about this idea:
It's a Eastman guitar designed by Claudio and Claudia Pagelli. Eastman - Handcrafted Guitars and Mandolins
Its asymmetry makes it seem very modern, but without looking out of place.
Then I found the Pagellis own web site and saw this was no fluke: Untitled Document |

| | One more before I go to sleep: Canadian Luthier Linda Manzer is known for her association with Pat Metheny.
What's cool about this guitar (besides the colour)? "Note the optional sliding panel door on the upper bout. This is an adjustable sound port that allows the player to hear the sound that normally projects forward." Manzer Guitars - Absynthe |

A Hofner 461. I don't know what's odder about the archtop -- the vestigial oval soundhole or the "seal" f-holes. The clear pickguard is classic Hofner. |

It's a pleasure to see the kind of attention given to multiple facets of the guitar in this case, where many stick to making a major mod of one or two things.
Art! Brilliant!
