Default EU/UK private sale prices for 70's/80's 175s?

I've been looking at the UK/EU prices of 70's and 80's 175's sold privately on eBay etc. They seem overpriced to me - what do you guys in Europe think is a fair market price for a private sale *within the EU*? "Whatever it's worth to you" would be a good answer, but I'm interested to know what I could likely resell one for if I didn't bond with it.

At the moment I'm not considering the possibility of importing from outside the EU because of the substantial overhead of overseas shipping and import taxes.

Why 70's and 80's? I don't like the modern flame finishes and I wouldn't want to pay "golden era" prices!

thanks

Bill

Interesting question, so me anyway. 70s/80s 175s don't have the most desirable cosmetic features ( although they are generally well built, with excellent electronics) and so can go privately for anything ( in the UK) between £1500 and £2500. At one point last year I put a '74 175, with a probable reset/reneck but otherwise excellent, on the private market at £1400 and it didn't go. That really surprised me..

So I would say that private prices range from quite unrealistic to very reasonable, and I suspect the range is wide because many potential buyers, and maybe sellers, have read about the undesirable Norlin era features, but can't see beyond them to the underlying utility of these models.

I agree about flamey tops on 175s..they just don't work somehow.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking £1500 - £2000 on the private market so not too dissimilar. I like the look of the 80's models with the mahogany sides and back. They retain some of the (imo) desirable features without some of the less popular departures from the original spec.
