Help Gibson Repair Nashville

It's about time to re-fret my L5, and I was thinking of sending it to Gibson's repair facility in Nashville. Anyone have any experience having work done there?

My other option was to send it to Taylor in CA, who also brag about doing top quality work on all makes.

Any thoughts?

Believe it or not, there's no one to brag about in the bustling south Florida region.

Thanks

Just my opinion, but I would never trust either Gibson (poor quality, long lead times, high prices) or Taylor (non-familiarity with Gibsons and archtops) for a re-fret.

Here in the SF Bay area I have several guys to choose from for a quality re-fret. If there was no local equivalent available, I would investigate folks in my quadrant of the country, just to reduce shipping risks / costs / time differences, and establish a personal relationship via email and phone before shipping my faithful axe to them.

There are lots of fine luthiers in the USA that can do the job, what are your reasons for limiting yourself to working with the big guys?
