 epi joe pass + modded Hot Rod Deluxe Well I finally got my first full hollow body and after playing a tele the neck is taking some time to get used to. After all of the bad things I had to say about my used Hot Rod Deluxe I have to give an update. The tele sounds great through a Roland Cube but the Joe Pass is a bit muddy so I put a 12au7 tube in the V1 and it's unreal the difference. I know the gain is only 19 % of the stock tubes but this cheap mod has also corrected the muddy farting bass tone and ridiculous highs. The HRD is now not only useable but my amp of choice (especially with the Joe Pass). SO now I have an amp that's perfect for each guitar. I am quite happy with the Joe Pass despite complaints about them moving operations to Indonesia, however my first order of business will be a new neck pickup...and I think I have it down to GFS 59 or Gibson 57 One of those should work for jazz?     |
