Default recordings made with a pick up the world archtop pup?

Anyone have personal recordings or have links?

I think I'm going to experiment with my kay...blend the dearmond with a more acoustic sound...who knows, maybe I'll even nab one for my loar...although I'm enjoying that one as an acoustic guitar now...

Any thoughts? I hear some recordings of julian lage and even john pizzarelli and they get me thinking ...

No recordings that I can recall, but I had an octave mandolin equipped with a PUTW that sounded strangely like an acoustic octave mandolin that suddenly got louder as I turned up the amp volume. It really did a good job of not adding any stuff to the sound of the instrument.

Now that I think of it, installation and placement particularly, are very important with this pickup. It's like if you don't know where the top is most productive, you might miss the sweet spot.

I sent the OM to Australia a few years ago in partial trade for a recumbent trike for my wife.

Cool...natural. is what I want ... although their archtop pickup goes under the foot of the bridge...no room for play...so I guess I'll like it or I won't...

Anybody else?

That's the sound I want...

How are you amplified? Do you use a preamp? There's not a lot of info out there on these out there... it comes with a Jack attached that I can clip to the tailpiece? I'm not interested in a permanent modification.

There's no preamp in the guitar, and I was hooked up with a short cable into an active DI, and into the PA. The PU is plenty hot enough for this setup, and I think you only need a preamp for EQ. It's not a loud room so I expect the camera mic is getting a bit of true acoustic in the mix.

I had a PUTW in my old Martin HD-28 and have one now in my stand-up bass. As bborzell wrote, they just got louder. Love 'em! No color. Easily reversible. No luthiery necessary (except if drilling a bigger hole for an endpin jack - and you won't be). I used the PUTW preamp w/ both. It's really just a volume/on/off switch. Handy in a venue, b/c you don't need the sound guy's attention if you need to unplug, or switch yourself to "standby", etc.

Did I mention I love 'em? http://www.jazzguitar.be/forum/image...es/biggrin.gif

Hope this helps. -BT
