Default Tanglewood T6 Acoustic Amp

Hey guys,

This is my first time posting, although I have reffered the wealth of impartial information on this forum numerous times for advice and help in the past.

So, I did my research, and I took my Godin 5th avenue II CW down to my local guitar shop with the idea in my head that I would come away with a Roland 80xl. However I was having feedback issues and I wasn't awfully impressed by the sound to be perfectly honest, after having a good go. Afterwards I had a go on a Tanglewood T6 Acoustic Amplifier which I was much more impressed with, priced at £390. It's sixty watts and had a great tone, and seemed to suffer less from feedback issues than the Roland.

So I was wandering, has anybody had any experience with this amplifier? I haven't managed to find any information on the internet in regards to how it performs with an archtop guitar - somewhat understandable because tanglewood is a brand of acoustic guitar.

If not, could anybody suggest similar acoustic amps within the price range of £200-£400? I play rhythm guitar with a big band and I am looking for something that'll both give creamy jazz tones and be good for chonking away when I'm doing 4-to-a-bar. In the past I have used a marshall 30w amp and been DI'ed through the PA system (whatever that means, just quoting the tech guy) and in some venues the marshall was simply not loud enough for me to hear myself over the trumpets and trombones - very unsettling.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

-Patrick

If you want an acoustic amp, you can pickup a used marshall 50watt or 100 watt on the bay for the figures you mention. The Shire King is also a very good amp, I've used a friends, and was impressed. The Vox AGA70 and 150 appeal to me but not had a chance to try one yet. Other than acoustic amps, I guess the 'usual suspects' in the UK, eg Vox, Fender (s/h solid state), are worth trying.
Good luck.

I have heard great things about Fishman amps and archtops - although I didn't like the sound of my archtop trough a Loudbox Performer that much. On the new artist you can even dial the tweeter out to fit your archtop better.

Thanks ever so much for the advice so far guys! Has provided some food for and thought, and I particularly am interested in the Vox/Fender amps now as they do some models well within my price range.

But has anybody out there ever had any experience with the tanglewood T6? My experience with it was pretty good, but I would like to hear about the experience of at least one other player out there before I spend my hard-earned cash...
