Default Old or New - Fender D'A Elite or Commins GCS-1

Would appreciate thoughts on this question folks. While I await my place in line with Brian Trenier, I need to scratch the itch with either one of the two above guitars. Both are short scale, both laminates but that's where the similarity stops.
I like that the D'A is hollow and acoustically larger, and of course incorporates ideas of the master. The Commins is a looker, more cost effective and is Bill's baby, so you know it's no dog. Mentally, I always relate the smaller bodied semi hollow, chambered guitars to lean towards rock; I'm playing straight ahead jazz. BTW, either would run through a TomKat.
So, thoughts everyone? Pluses, minuses? Something tells me I can't lose either way.
Thx

Wow, tough call. I've always liked the Fender D'Aquistos, but it is more likely to get replaced by the Trenier than the Comins, which really covers a different space.

And, you can't lose either way.
