Help Case for the Loar LH-350

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased the Loar LH-350, and I'm really happy with the instrument. It didn't come with the gig bag though, so Musician's Friend offered to send me a case. First one arrived and didn't fit, so they said they'd have "some people who know a lot about cases" pick one that would and send that to me. Just got home today to find out that the case they sent me was this...

Silver Creek Vintage Archtop LP-Style Guitar Case: Shop Accessories & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend

... a case for a Les Paul. Anyways, I called them back and they'll have it shipped back and send out another one (all paid for by them, so I have to admit they are good with the customer service).

I think they meant to send out this guy:

Silver Creek Vintage Archtop Hollowbody Guitar Case: Shop Cases for Hollow & Semi-Hollow Body Guitars & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend

This case would fit all the dimensions except the depth. It says that it has a 4" depth, whereas the Loar LH-350 is 5'' deep at the highest point of the bridge. My question is, do you guys think this case would fit this guitar? Would the padding give a bit to make it a snug fit? If you don't think it will fit do you have any suggestions? I'd really like to not have to take my archtop to the gig in a cardboard box again...

Thanks!

-Neil

Well, I'm no expert in aftermarket cases, but archtop depth usually refers to a measurement at the thickest point of the rim of the lower bout...not from the top of the bridge to the back.

Later it occurred to me that you might just want to ask them for a partial credit, due to their inability to provide the case and go to: archtop.com: #1 Online Marketplace for Vintage Jazz Guitars -- sort of a de facto standard answer around here for archtops and accessories, I know -- but it is for a good reason.

He sells cases that fit the early 16" L5, which is the inspiration for the guitar you have. I'm sure he can fix you up.
