Amps Replacement 12" or 15" speaker for cube 80XL

It was suggested in another thread that I think about changingthe speaker in my Cube 80XL. So I was curious if anyone had any suggestions for a nice warm smokey jazz tone? Jensen Alnico??? I am looking for a ncie dark smokey tone much like Wes had.

Thanks for your time and information guys.

it's a 12" speaker. i got such a sound with an emi delta demon, but it's a 10" speaker and i don't use the cube 80 as a combo anymore. in addition to that, keep in mind that you probably have to fit the hole of your cube for an exchange speaker, since it seems not to be a standart 12" speaker size.

cheers

Have a look through this thread:

http://www.jazzguitar.be/forum/guita...-thoughts.html

I'm not sure if the baffle on the (new) Cube 80XL is anything like the one on the old Cube 60's, but (if it is the same) I have had one h*** of a time finding a 12" speaker to fit. Hopefully, Roland has changed the baffle to accommodate more brands of speakers.

The Eminence C-Rex is worth considering, IMHO.

Cheers

Dave

Being a craftsmen I am not afraid to create my own cab for a new speaker. Thanks for the insights. It would seem that it will be a hell of a time just getting access to the the speaker...
