Default 2x12 Cabinet

Hi!

I want to get a 2x12 cabinet for my jazzmaster ultralight. I will be putting Jensen Tornados in there and I need some custom options: convertible back, jack parallel out, speakon input.. Not very heavy also - the speakers will add 4 kgs and I need it to liftable by myself alone.

Anyone has a recommendation for a good 2x12 cab in Europe? Zilla seems good but get's a lot of mixed reviews. Tube Town or TAD also seem nice but a little expensive for what they do.

I could get a Port City for something like 550€... The design seems great but isn't this a little overpriced? The US seems to have a lot of good cabinets but shipping and VAT and fees are very scary...

Thanks!

Have you looked into Torres UK? I was checking out the options myself (for a 1x12) and their options/prices are very good. I haven't used them but it seems they have a good reputation too and they replied my e-mails quickly.

Great, another option!

Actually there's a guy here selling a Dr Z 2x12 open-back unloaded cab... This seems like a great option, not everyday you are able to buy a good unloaded cab.

Has anyone tried one of these cabs? Despite being "for rock" they seem to have a good reputation.

That Zilla is beautifull... I have talked with Dirk at Tube-Town and he is a great guy - so those are the most strong options.

I will check the Dr Z this weekend... It's not convertible, it's semi-open but that's probably fine. If it's in good conditions I will might get it - I already have one Tornado it's just a matter of buying a second one.

If anyone has other suggestions I will be glad to hear them!

Yeah, it's loaded, and some unique configurations as well.

I got the Dr. Z cab. It was in great shape, less than half the price new, come unloaded, semi-open back... And it's quite light for a 2x12 (the Tornados will only add 4 kgs).

I only have one Tornado here, I have to buy another one (just in December) and do the break-in so I can probably report back in 2012!

I already have the cab, I am doing the break-in on the new speaker and tried it for some time with both my JMUL head nad my Fender M80 used as head. Very nice speakers, excellent top end and flats mids. The low end is not perfect but the JMUL could compensate it... still not perfect, maybe one day I will close the cabinet.

But it's nothing too serious of course. Overall great sound, lots of clean headroom and much broad / deeper sound -this was my main goal. I will report back when I have used it with my JMUL and pedalboard for a while (and on a gig hopefully).

Oh and it's quite light also for a 2x12, I can lift it alone
