Default Push/pull coil splitting

I have an Epiphone Dot (I love its cherry red and jazzy look) and Im thinking of having the set up where there's the push/pull switch isolating the coils. Anyone do this? What you guys think? If you're wondering why I want to do this, my honest answer would, "just because" but Im not completely set on this......

Default coil tap

I have a coil tap on one guitar.I like it,though the singles are a bit weaker in volume, but that's what those knobs are for. Some like it,some don't but I just figure .....it is my guitar, right.
Just my opinion.

The spin-a-split system works great. You use a pot to blend the coil in or out. It seems like it subtly boosts the treble and cuts the mids without any real volume loss until it's off.

My Blacktop Strat has something similar. It's fine- nothing wrong with more flexibility, especially if you play a lot of genres and want it, but you don't need it either.

I'm considering it for my slim hollow Ibanez AFS75. I need new pots and would like new pickups, so what the hey.

I have them in a Les Paul and enjoy the versatility. Having an Epi dot myself, I would invest in new pickups first, though, if you haven't already. I put SD Seth Lovers in my blonde dot and it was night and day; turned the sound from junk to something halfway decent I enjoy playing. Good luck.

Yes, you can get an idea of what they sound like at the SD website. I only got them after I literally couldn't give the guitar away for $50 and it's a vast improvement, night and day, hated it before, really like it now.

I have it on my Benedetto. actually, almost all Benedetto guitars havr a coil split. I found it good when you need to get a more acoustic (but weaker) sound or when you want to play full swing chords: it makes them sound subtle but not too loud. I use it a lot with the band.

Yamaha makes push/push coil split pots which are a bit easier to use than the push/pull variety. They are a tall pot, but they will fit in a Yamaha SA2200 (ES-335 clone). BTW-coil splitting works better on unbalanced coil designs (Lollar Imperial, Gibson Burstbucker, Fralin Unbucker etc.) than standard humbuckers, as the output coil (when split) has more windings and won't sound so thin. Cheers!
