Guitar Epiphone Sheraton II vs. Yamaha Pacifica 112V

Hi everybody! My name is Martin, i m from russsia, but currently studying in the UK.I am playing acoustic guitar for 1 year
I ve recently decided to buy an electric one here and now I am experiencing a hesitation between jazz semi-hollow body guitar (Epiphone Sheraton) and solid body (Yamaha Pacifica 112V). Could you help me to choose the correct option?

P.S. I love rock-n-roll/jazz/blues music, it might help you to choose.

Welcome, Martin! Sorry, but those two choices are different animals. You really need both! So buy whichever one you prefer now, and plan to get the other one when you can.

Hi Martin,
Since you have an interest in varied styles, I would choose the Epiphone of the two, as being the most flexible. Definitely better for jazz and blues than the Yamaha, and certainly capable of rock.

My thought.

Chris

I'd say the Epiphone. The Yamaha is fine, but the Sheraton is more flexible for the genres you're interested in.

Choose the one that feels and sounds best to you.....

That being said, if you also want to do more traditional jazz (-related) stuff, I suspect you will feel more comfortable with the Sheraton.... well, I would, because a solid Yamaha in a jazz quartet is not done in my mind, but that's just a silly and completely irrational psychological thing.......

A Tele-like Pacifica on the other hand would be considered appropriate in a jazz quartet.....

(As my post should make clear: unfortunately there are psychological elements involved in your choice too -influenced by tradition and so - and they have absolutely nothing to do with sound and playability.. unless you are after that specific archtop tone, either guitar would be fine.. just choose the one that sounds and feels best to you!)

Thank you all! You've helped me a lot!
I've already tried to play both guitars. They are very good, but I prefer a kind of warmer, high sustain sound which I recognized in Sheraton)I'll take it)
Thank you once more!
