Default Fender stratocaster

Best all,

I really need some feedback and opinions.
I'm searching for a guitar amp for my guitar playing.

I play mainly jazz guitar ( duh ), and i realy like the
new Line 6 dt 25 head with cabinet.
But sinds i'm new to this i don't know if this is a right
decicion.
In the future i will buy a semi hollow guitar like the Gibson L5
so i want the amp also be good for this future guitar.

I hope you guys can give me some feedback on what amp i need to
buy.

Thanks,

Johan

I have a ZT Lunchbox, which is a bit quiet (I'm adding an extension cab soon), but the Club is as good if not better. I also like Roland Cubes.

I'm not a huge fan of Line 6 stuff myself, certainly not for jazz. I had a Fender Mustang III for a while, which worked fine, but I think modeling amps tend to get extreme in their settings and you end up losing a solid guitar tone under a mass of modeling. I don't need too many different settings, so between my Lunchbox, a Pignose, and judicious application of a wah pedal, I'm pretty well covered.

Just to make sure you have no misinterpretations, the Gibson L5 is fully hollow. If you want semi-hollow, get the ES335. It' a really nice instrument.

As far as amps go, I try to stay away from the ones that seem to be made for rock and metal. I've had a 65 Fender Twin reissue which was great, several Ampeg amps which they don't make anymore and a Polytone amp. If I were you, go into a music store with your guitar and test out a large number of amps (if you can). That way, your ears will tell you whether or not you'll get the sound you're after. Also, string brand, string type and gauge will also make a difference in your sound. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah. The L5 is one of the coolest looking and sounding guitars I've played. It has the 25 1/2 inch scale but that should be no problem.

When it comes to the amps, the Fender amps, particularly the Twin reissue and the black face Deluxe are very good amps for jazz but they can be expensive. Polytone amps are also very good but I'm not that familiar with the different models. The Roland Cubes seem to be one of the favorites on this site as is the Henrickson (spelled right?) amps. One good solid state amp that is inexpensive is the Kustom 12 Gauge. It's small (about 25 pounds in weight) but it has one 12 inch speaker.
