Maybe you have been tasting something not meant for human consumption? That could explain it. I mean, I've heard of certain plants indigenous to the Iberian Peninsula that could mess you up big time. Just because you can wander around in a cork forest in Portugal doesn't mean you should just take a big bite out of some strange looking weed growing there.

The only indigenous plants that mess up with you big time here in Portugal are from Morocco or The Netherlands...
