Default Ibanez GB10

I had one a while back, didn't really bond with it, sold it. I saw and played a '78 version a few days ago. and it seemed like a totally different guitar. Very very playable, sounded great.

I wonder if the quality of the older guitars is much better? What do you all think, who may have played one of these? Thanks in advance for your input.

I've owned a couple of older GB10s and they are probably one of my all time favorite guitars. Tonally very flexible for so many formats - I always say they look like a tuxedo guitar, classic appointments, a very comfortable small body but awesome tone.

I belong to an Ibanez forum and many of the fellow members there also prefer the older GB10s. Though I think the newer ones are just as nice, as long as they are the ones made in Japan. The cheaper MIK ones I would pass on buying.

I may go ahead and buy this one, it's pretty cheap--because the original owner painted the pickups black and the pick guard got warped and had to be reinforced with a 2nd pick guard, and, in the back, near the binding, the wood had to be replaced near the heel, where the strap button is.

Plays great, not a collector's guitar. I.e., right up my alley. I've fallen in love with smaller guitars (think ES-339) I'm selling a carved arch top, hopefully soon, too. "One out, one in"is the rule.
