Anyhow, the year is 2011. Last day of October.
Most of the blue Polytones I've seen were mid 1990's versions, by the way. |

BUT SERIOUSLY, to the OP. If you aren't certain of the vintage of your Minibrute II, an important bit of information for prospective buyers is the configuration of controls on top: Most important is whether it has the "Sonic Circuitry" or whether it just has basic Bass/Treble, maybe a "mid" knob and a dark/brite slide switch.
Some people will also want to know whether you replaced the reverb or not.
Early minibrute II's are pretty basic. Newer models have more knobs than the flight deck of a DC-4. Some people like the older models better and feel they have better tone...myself, I think it's just a matter of finding the right combination of knobs to twist on the newer ones. |

| | I'm pretty sure its fairly new. It doesnt have the sonic circuitry but it does have a distortion channel. The reverb has not been replace and works fine. The only issue with the amp is that the original knobs are gone for the distortion channel. They have been replaced but they dont stay on tight. I never use the distortion channel anyways. the control panel looks like this (i will post pics of the actual amp later) |

| | I bought it for use with my pedal steel guitar. Love the tone but gigged with it this past weekend and couldnt get enough volume. Really bummed about it as I love the amp for smaller gigs, but pedal steel needs more power I guess. I'm looking at a ZT Club or maybe a 200W bass head. |

If reverb isn't a deal breaker for you, you might want to consider a trade... |

| | For steel, check out some of Peavey's higher watt solid state offerings. Big and heavy, but loud and clean as anything...a little brittle sounding for jazz, but great for steel.
I've reviewed a Zt Club and while it's very cool, it was no louder than my Polytone MB III.
Honestly, if the MB wasn't loud enough, you guys might have too much stage volume...it's time for mics and monitors. |

| | I would consider a trade for something similar that I could use with pedal steel but I need something light and prefer a 12" speaker. |

| | I have a peavey nashville 112 which i like but it is heavy. I need something lighter. The peavey is also very loud for an 80watt amp. The polytone didnt come close to the volume i get from the peavey. I wish it did. |

| | Mine is an 1982 model I bought mine 30 years ago and still gig with it 4 nights a week. Powerful, compact and a clean sound. I use it with a Digitech RP7. I would never sell it. Great little amps. Quote:

| | Volume. I honestly never crank my MB up past 2 on the volume knob. It is very loud. I never mic it even. I have played large halls for crowds of 600 with it at #2 volume. It does have and ext.spk. out jack, I come off of that into my PA mixer and just barely put any volume on that channel, to project my guitar through the PA. It is really more for ambient sound at the back of the hall, than anything. I want the tone of the MB to shine through,, not the tone of my PA system. Have you tried micing it or going out the ext. Spkr jack to your PA.? Quote:

Perhaps it's been replaced (as often happens) with an 8 or 16 ohm replacement and now you're getting only 1/2 or 1/4 the wattage.....just an idea. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
